The purpose of the chakras or energy centers is to awaken the mind, body, and spirit, from the earth (root chakra) to the heavens (crown chakra).
This February, the month of love, I present Anahata, or the Heart Chakra.
The heart chakra is symbolized by a lotus flower with twelve petals and relates to the color green.
One of my favorite heart chakra poses is Ustrasana or Camel Pose. This pose stimulates the thymus gland, heart, lower lungs, skin, hands and circulatory system and expands the ribs.
Find a quiet place, turn on some chakra yoga music, clear your mind, relax your body, and enjoy. Don't forget to breathe while visualizing the color green and breathe out while vocalizing this chakra's mantra sound YAM.
*Disclaimer: This cool down pose is to be done after warming up the body through a series of warm-up poses. New to yoga, need a refresher course, or looking for your next yoga guru? Search no more. Click here for class descriptions & pricing.
Happy love month! ❤️
