Read Now

There are so many needs all around us. And especially during the 2020 pandemic (when we have been stuck more at home), your support made a difference to my small business and to special organizations across the state of Ohio. The recipients of this year's donation-based yoga classes include the following special organizations:

Serenity Prayer

Deep breath in. Deep breath out. This Serenity Prayer written by Reinhold Niebuhr, one of America’s leading public intellectuals, has the power to break tension and anxiety (inner turmoil). And with so much out of our control, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to memorize this prayer and recite it every day. Or as I have, write it on a post-it note and stick it on to the back of your bathroom mirror and say it when washing your teeth, washing your face, etc. to wash away all that we must let go and let God.
Letting ourselves be; letting the world be; without trying to change the things that we can’t change. Being here in this present moment to change the things that we can change. And meditating to know the difference. It’s truly the most basic concept on any path of self-awareness.
Buddhist Philosophy: Letting go of attachment
Christian Concept: God’s will be done

One example I’d like to share is that of our current health crisis. With John Hopkins University loggings 63,770,421 million confirmed cases as of today, 13,709,941 million of them in the U.S. and 430,093 in Ohio, with more than 1,478,923 deaths globally, 270,509 in this country, and 6,548 in Ohio, the coronavirus pathogen continues to be health expert’s “worst nightmare”, as stated by Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. (Ohio data taken from the Ohio Department of Health.)
Let’s not give up this fight as we know precious lives are infected or taken away on a daily basis. Applying Reinhold’s Serenity Prayer, we let go when we accept health expert’s guidance by making temporary sacrifices to protect others and ourselves ― social distancing, stay-at-home orders, canceling/postponing physical gatherings, etc. We have the power to change things such as wearing masks, disinfecting our business and homes often, washing our hands more frequently, and so forth. And we listen to intuition ― that inner voice ―that wisdom to know the difference; that tells us right from wrong.

So, how have you used or are using wisdom to accept things you cannot change and change the things that you can? Will you share a story or comment below?
